Big Ass Shims™ are oversized, flat, non-wedge PVC shims designed to help contractors and homeowners install faster, flatter, plumb, and more accurately on a wide range of projects.

Material & Performance

✅ Manufactured from durable 0.6 density expanded PVC
✅ Approximate compressive performance: 6–8 MPa under standard testing ranges (varies by load area, conditions, and orientation)
✅ Moisture-resistant for indoor or outdoor use
✅ Lightweight, rigid, and easy to work with
✅ Will not split or crack like many traditional wood or composite shims during normal fastening

Installation Tips & Tricks

Score & Snap

✅ Most sizes can be easily scored with a sharp utility knife and snapped cleanly by hand.

For 1/2" Blue Shims

✅ For the cleanest break, score both sides first, then snap.

Stack for Exact Thickness

✅ Use the color-coded system to combine shim sizes and build the exact thickness needed quickly.

Fastening

✅ Big Ass Shims™ can be fastened with screws, brad nails, finish nails, or staples depending on application.

Fastener Length Matters

✅ Always ensure your fastener penetrates the stud or framing member to the manufacturer-recommended depth.

When selecting fastener length, account for:

Thickness of the material being attached
Total thickness of shims used
Required embedment depth into framing

Example: drywall + shim stack + required stud penetration.
